EcCEL: Flow and Cells

The EcCel team focuses on the theory and simulation of blood flow and active matter (swimming and cell motility) and on the interaction between blood flow and biochemical signaling, such as ATP and calcium dynamics. The team also works on blood flow experiments, using healthy donors, and diabetic blood (in collaboration with the Grenoble hospital), and has expertise on microvasculature-on-a-chip (microfluidic arrays coated with endothelial cells) to study the interaction between circulating blood components and the endothelium. The team is involved in microgravity research with the CNES (Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales) to study blood occlusions and endothelial dysfunction due to long space missions.
