Defence of a research supervision accreditation
On May 28, 2026
Natale Scaramozzino (BIOP)
I have developed my scientific career at the intersection of biology, physics and biotechnology. Following the completion of my doctoral thesis on high-risk biological viruses, I worked on molecular detection methods, with a particular focus on the smallpox virus. I also contributed to the development of an automated genotyping unit for use in forensic science. My research at LIPhy (CNRS) has centred on using phage display to select antibodies and peptides for use in biosensors, including electronic noses for detecting volatile organic compounds and pathogens such as Campylobacter jejuni. I have also studied non-canonical DNA structures, such as telomeric G-quadruplexes. My current projects combine microfluidics, genomic engineering and modelling to improve our understanding of bacterial mechanisms, including strategies for allocating protein resources and the dynamics of microbial consortia. These projects have applications in the rapid detection of pathogens, the development of biomolecules that target specific DNA structures and the optimisation of microbial systems for biotechnological applications. My career path reflects a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach, combining fundamental research with applied innovation.
