A Professorship in microbiology will be opened for applications (CNU Sections 64/65, 46.1) in spring 2026. The profile of the position is 'Quantitative approaches in microbiology'.
We are seeking to recruit a Professor (tenure) in microbiology to play a leadership role within LIPhy.
The selected candidate will develop his/her research in close collaboration with the physicists and mathematicians of the laboratory on existing themes in the lab, such as:

Quantitative and predictive study and modeling of genetic circuits in model bacteria

Genetic engineering of E. coli to produce molecules of interest, based on the cited modeling or on predictions of RNA folding (RNA switch)

Study of the role of stochasticity and non-genetic individuality in bacteria
The candidate may also develop new topics in related areas (cell death, Darwinian evolution, etc.).
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in one or more of the following domains:

Bacterial genome engineering

Study of bacterial physiology (transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.)

Development of single-cell approaches
-
Dynamic study of gene expression and associated technologies for quantification (proteins, RNA) and control of their expression (e.g., optogenetics)
The candidate will be able to set up and manage collaborative research projects and secure funding by responding to project calls.
The candidate will also carry out teaching duties at the UFR Chemistry and Biology. Part of the teaching will be delivered in French.
