Sometimes being an integral part of an imaging device, wave manipulation is very present in our team. While some projects use the stochasticity of light propagation, optical wavefront manipulation techniques using spatial light modulators (DMD, SLM) allow today the manipulation of coherent light, for example in order to focus through a complex medium. This manipulation can also be used to control, by holography, the phase and the amplitude of the field in very particular configurations (evanescent waves). The team realizes acoustic projects in analogy with optics, where light modulators are simply replaced by acoustic sensor arrays.
