The BIOP team is a multidisciplinary team of physicists and biologists. It addresses fundamental questions about biological systems by combining quantitative experimental approaches, modeling and theoretical approaches.
In different ways, we study the dynamics and adaptation of biological systems to a changing environment. In order to understand the fundamental mechanisms of life, we not only study natural systems at different scales (from molecular biology to ecosystems) but we also build the components of very well defined systems (genetic circuits, antibodies, bacterial consortia, ...). Our research benefits from this combination of fundamental research and engineering and from the close interaction between biology, physics and mathematical modeling.
